SOUTHERN GRILL is open sometimes. Something about a soft opening last weekend. A grand opening this weekend. I'm not sure about the rest. Drove by this week, at lunch time and they were closed. I did look at the menu while I was in there. Looks like the SCENDS DEUX's menu. Virtually the same menu and prices. So if you liked SCENDS DEUX you'll like this place. I'm happy they opened in this beautiful building. I wish the new owners nothing but success.

(L-R) Stephanie & Jenna are two of the three pretty gals I've met at Sonja's. This place hasn't changed in 40 years. I don't think they have even painted the place (just kidding). I use to work nearby, at Johnson's Lumber, in the 1970's. I use to cut and haul lumber all over that area. Trust me this whole area hasn't changed a lick. It's just the way it was 40 years ago. It's a time warp. It's my fountain of youth and it's full of pretty girls. I may be out there again this weekend, cheers.

No business has had a bigger economic impact on east county. Before the plant was built there was 600 people living in Pittsburg. By 1910 there was 2,372 and by 1920 there was 4,715. I'm sure Antioch saw similar growth. Generations have worked and retired from this place. The coal is gone, there is no iron ore, but there has been a steel mill operating continuously for more than 100 years. Do you think they have pumped a billion dollars into this economy yet?

The hills in east county are green. We get a couple months of this. This is one of them. Gas is cheap, drive out Deer Valley, go either way at Marsh Creek Road. It's beautiful out there.

The refineries are west of us. The gas delivery trucks have to pass through Antioch to get to Oakley & Brentwood. That should mean more expense and higher prices not lower prices. Do the cities charge fees? Somebody explain it to me please.
