Jim Harbaugh Visits Antioch High School To Conduct A Football Clinic

More than 200 kids, from all over the bay area, came to Antioch High School to learn football technique from Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan football coaches. I saw new drills and appreciative kids wanting to learn. I came away with a feeling of goodwill. You could see that Harbaugh loved what he was doing, teaching football to young men. Bravo to AHS football coach John Lucido for making this happen. Warning to the rest of the league, Antioch will be ready to defend their BVAL championship title again this year. 11th Annual Celebration Of Art

Antioch Historical Museum

Now Through July 22nd

Do you like local history? Do you like art? In addition to a fabulous museum, 60 local artist's have their artwork on display (and for sale) at the Antioch Historical Society Museum. The museum is open Wed and Sat from 1-4 PM. Stop by and enjoy the exhibit. Something catch your eye? Purchase it and take it home forever. I took several snapshots on a recent visit. I'm titling this photo "A Piece Of Autumn Feathers." It's a small portion of a bigger picture (I want you to visit the museum and see all the art on display). The exhibit is open through July 22nd. The museum can still use a few volunteers (to show people around the museum and answer questions). If you like history, helping others and now, love art, stop by the museum and ask if you can help. I guarantee it will help you to get into heaven.

Seen this building a 100 times. Up close and personal too. I have even seen the inside of it. But, I have never seen this building quite like this before. Looking all hallowed and majestic. This is a sensational shot. I will not forget this. Thanks, Michael.

Antioch Mystery Artist Found

I made contact this week with an artist that has vexed me for about a year. Why vexed? He signs his art "Paint For Food." I want to understand this artist's intention. Of course he can paint for beauty sake but I sense he has a deeper meaning and is being coy. The first time I saw his work was at Hugo's Bar in Antioch. No name, no phone number, no website? It frustrated me. Surely on a building mural of this size there's room to add a name. When I found an even larger mural in downtown Antioch, with the same message "paint for food" I had to find out who this artist is. I got some clues from the owner at Hugo's. I eventually found the artist, Christopher Anway, on facebook. I read this article and now I understood him a little more. We exchanged phone numbers, I plan to talk to him as soon as as I can, maybe even today. If he likes beer and cigars I'm in.

Malto Hope, a bulk carrier, flying a Panama flag, bound for the Port Of Stockton. Captured by yours truly on Weds. June 29th about 10:30 AM from the former Antioch Lumber parking lot (now Vintage Realty). I can't help myself. I stop for all big ships. See in HD?

USAF Band Of The Golden West performed last Sunday at the El Campanil Theatre. I took my 13 year old grandson and 4th year trumpeteer to listen to this 40 piece orchestra. The high point of the show for me was the medley of service branch tunes and "Stars and Stripes Forever" encore. My grandson gave the Air Force Band 9 1/2 stars (out of 10) and promised to work harder on his own sound. What more could a grandpa ask for? Happy 4th of July to you and yours. Stay safe.
