This is the "GPS marker" inside the observation center at the top of Mt. Diablo. When they were measuring California for "lots" in the early 1800's Mt Diablo, Mt Shasta and San Bernardino Peak were the mountains they used to measure the state by. Here's a looklng south from the rim.
