Southern Pacific Railroad Station Antioch 1912

This photo was taken in 1912. It was located at Railroad Ave. & "A" St. and operated as a train station late into the 1950's. Then it was torn down and became a A&W Root Beer drive-in and gas station. Now we have a animal hospital.

Fields of Orange
Have you noticed how many of the fields around Antioch and Brentwood are looking orange these days? This is Safflower, a new crop for east county. It's a disced and seeded crop and requires no irrigation. From what I understand the crop will be harvested and crushed for it's oil content. Pretty amazing actually that you can do all these steps and make money doing this.

Photographer Mike Partain Gets An Assist In Softball

This is the story of a grateful granddaughter who forgot her softball equipment at home before a big game. Mike drove all night to pick it up and deliver it to her before game time.  Mike and I just met at a Antioch Photography Club event for the first time last month. I'm going to see him at next weeks event. If you like photography and want to hang out with some nice folks maybe you should check us out (see the notice below). This is one of Mike's photos I saw and liked.

Happy Birthday Reuben

Stargazer is a pen name for another friend in the Antioch Photography Club. He sent me this photo and this story. It's the story of a photographer who by happen stance witnessed something special that touched him. Pay no attention to the style just what it says.
