1979 Antioch High School Track Team Is Inducted Into The Museum In 2016

Congratulations To The 2016 Inductees Into The Antioch Sports Legends Museum

Every October, for the last ten years, 14 athletes, one community leader and one team is inducted into the Antioch Sports Legends Museum. Inductees from all over the country come back to Antioch to receive their awards and see their display cases. Clothing, medals, trophies, newspaper clippings, of their accomplishments are carefully arranged into magnificent displays. The alumni committee holds a golf tournament, many attend the AHS football game, they celebrate with neighbors, family and friends. Saturday morning is a breakfast at the museum. Later, the doors to the hall are unlocked and inductees see their displays for the first time. The displays remain for a year until next years class is inducted. A Gala Dinner is held Saturday night when they are officially honored and receive their awards.

Freedom's Ronnie Rivers Runs All Over The Antioch Panthers

At 5' 8" and 170 lbs Ronnie Rivers is half the size of Antioch's Najee Harris. But this young man came to play. He assured his teammates early they were not undermanned in the running back department. Antioch led at halftime but a poor kicking game, a stingy Falcon defense and a determined young running back pulled away in the second half an won going away. The impressive win catapulted the Freedom Falcons all the way to the #1 spot in the division ahead of both De La Salle and Pittsburg. The loss has me rethinking my expectations for the Panther's this year. Antioch has a chance to right the ship Friday at home against the Liberty Lions. We'll see.
