Artist Open Studio Artist Brian Carleton

I went to Nancy Robert's Artist Open Studio event again last Saturday and saw Brian Carleton at Miguel Flores's studio in Brentwood. Brian is standing in front of one of his paintings that fooled me completely. I thought it was a mosaic, made of broken glass and pottery and glued together in a pattern. I looked at it from just inches away. I was thinking this would make a beautiful table. Thinking it weighed several hundred pounds and wondering how he ever attached it to the wall I asked him how much does it weigh? Then he simply reached over, took it off the wall, lifted it up and down a couple times and said "oh probably 10 to 15 lbs." I was shocked. It was a painting! Brian puts a lot of detail in his paintings. He likes to paint old homes and buildings. I like him and his style. I've hired him to do a painting for me as a gift for a friend. He lives in Brentwood his number is (510) 606-7157. Tell him you want Frank's deal.

Thanksgiving Is A Day To Be Thankful

I'm thankful this year because everyone in my family stayed healthy. We have a wonderful new dog named Bridget, I have found a golf swing again, business has been fine. It can be, tough at times, to find the bright side of things but, I remember the axiom, "it could always be worse," and it could be and I'm thankful it isn't.

Note: Holiday Next Week the SPOTLIGHT will be delivered Wednesday 11/25/2015
