3rd Annual East County Idol Contest - 4/18/2010
It was an afternoon of nervous excitement and thrilling performances for contestants and audience alike. 18 high school students from east county were selected, after
qualifying rounds, to go for the gold and let it all hang out for judges, in the hope they they would be named this years' East County Idol winner. Now in its third year the
program began with ten contestants; Alexandra Young "Orange Colored Sky; Brian Joksch "Word of God Speak"; Ashley Goins "If I Ain't Got You"; Delaney Gilfoy "A Broken Wing";
Xavier (Ali) Travis "Being Alive"; Dana Payne "What Is This?"; Joey Adams "On An Evening In Roma"; Emma Lahmann "Stay With You"; Jordan Smith "Impossible Dream"; Elizabeth Pandrea "No Good Deed";
and then there was a short intermission before Ross Bronzan "You're Still You"; Elizabeth Abao "Hero"; Chris Orcutt "Don't Know What's Happening"; Jullian Uy "At Last"; Katelyn Allen "Amazing Grace";
Storm Lever "If I Have Nothing"; Elexis Bambao "Hopelessly Devoted To You"; Samantha Bustos "Finally" wrapped it up. While the judges were slugging it out in the "jury room" the crowd was entertained
by 2008 winner Channelle Lewis. What a treat it was to hear her perform. She's obviously perfecting her talent and sang an amazing medley of three songs. Then it was time for Walter Ruehlig, President, Antioch Music
Foundation to announce the winners. Second runner up was a tie between Ashley Goins and Xavier (Ali) Travis. First runner up Jullian Uy and this years' winner Storm Lever. This was no easy task. The talent pool runs
deep here in East County, who knows maybe one day one of these contestants goes nationwide and is the next American Idol.
Ok now you can look at my lousy photos. This is a tough assignment for us rookie photographers. I have a GROUP SHOT (with the lights on and big) with good eyes you could quite possibly recognize a loved one, good luck. Maybe I'll be better when East County Idol FOUR rolls around, let's hope!
