It was a hot and steamy night outside LONE TREE GOLF & EVENT CENTER, here in Antioch, CA, this August night. Fortunately, it was as cool as a cucumber inside the scenic main dining room. There was a quiet buzz building and the scent of a feast yet to come. After a quick troll of the bar, for the customary Bloody Mary and Gin & Tonic, we went to the buffet line, ready to sample everything that looked good, camera in hand. Everything you see here, in the photos, I found a spot for on one of my plates. The spinach vinaigrette salad with goat cheese and fruit was very tasty and probably the closest thing I ate, to something really healthy, all night. I tried the calamari and prawns in a thick white sauce, the chicken cordon blue and the prime rib. I went back for more prime rib, Peggy was shocked, she's the meat eater at our house, but it was rare, tender and juicy and served with a thickened au jus that was quite tasty and two blends of horseradish, I chose the course grind and was pleased that it didn't blow my sinuses apart. We were through eating before the Becca Concert started. I asked the band a few questions while they were setting up and they showed me their 35 song play list for the night. I didn't recognize a single song so we opted "off the dance floor" for the sofa and the Giants vs Rockies game. The food was good, the Giants won, Frank got lucky, it was a good night.
