The weather was perfect for a grand opening day (to boating season) today on Bethel Island. The SAN JOAQUIN YACHT CLUB has been hosting this event for the last 261 years. Of course I'm kidding but they been doing it a long time. The parade started at 12 NOON right on time. I watched the parade from the Bethel Island Bridge. When the last boat had passed I headed to the RUSTY PORTHOLE for a cold beer and a second round of photos. As I was leaving the "back deck" a band was playing a Melissa Etheridge song on the front deck and I paused, for one more. Song over, beer done, it was off to the hosts' house SAN JOAQUIN YACHT CLUB. It's one of the few times a year they let us land lubbers aboard. Couple more chit chats, couple more photos and a couple more beers and I was done. Adios until next year! Thanks for a swell day.
