I took the afternoon "off" Friday, Feb. 6th to do a PHOTO GALLERY. This time I went to San Francisco. I drove to Bay Point Bart and was surprised to find a parking spot at noon. The ticket machine didn't like my well worn $10 bill so I bought a $15 visa ticket and got on the train. I got off at Powell, crossed Market and headed north up Powell to Chinatown. I stopped at Lefty O'Douls, for a cornbeef on rye (carved hof brau style @ $6.50) and a beer. Then I was back on Powell again, speeding past Union Square and into Chinatown. Lot's of good food deals here but I resisted because I was headed to North Beach and great Italian food. I made a left on Columbus Ave. and viola was in the heart of Italia. I was surpised at how many good restaurants there were to choose from. They posted their menus outside and everything seemed to be in the $15 to $20 range. I was disappointed I hadn't worked up an appetite yet. Before I knew it I was at Washington Square and then Jones St. Hooking a right there I ended up at Fisherman's Wharf and grabbed a prawn cocktail "off-the-street" and headed to Pier 39 on Embarcadero. By now it's 7PM and I was surprised at how empty Pier 39 looked for a Friday at that time of day. I guess the economy has even affected the tourists traps. That about covers the photo gallery below and that's all I got to say for now, HA!.
