The view from the top of Mt. Diablo is... the outdoor summer concert season is nearly gone. The early trend is Artisan Fairs and Farmer's Markets. My new passion project is... concerts headlined by top local bands performing with contra costa high school bands. Proceeds to benefit high school band programs. Friday, Oct 7th through Sunday, Oct 9th @ the CONCORD PLAZA HOTEL. 10-6pm daily. 150 artists, artisans, and tradespeople showcasing their talents and wares. Tickets $8 online, or $10 at the door. One ticket good for all three days.

Cap's Restaurant with Jimmy
Nice family-owned restaurant open 7 days a week for dinner @ 4 pm. Lunches Wed-Sat 11-3 pm. Steak, pasta, and fish. Nice bar, outside seating, and an upstairs banquet room.
I like dipping crusty bread into my own mix of minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil. Even the green dinner salad seems special to me. Depending on my mood I'm going with scallops, pepper steak, or one of the daily seasonal specials.
