Fall Trees @ Community Park on James Donlon
I visit this park often. I love the fall colors this time of year. I'm looking forward to a foggy days to revisit (great photo days). The park is well maintained. it's a great resource for East County residents to use. What I don't understand is why all the fields are locked up. Fields were never locked up when I was a kid. If someone is hell bent on destruction no fence is tall enough. Beautiful fields locked up is a crime.

Jeff Pico, 1984 Antioch High School Graduate, Named Cincinnati Reds Pitching Coach

Although officially unconfirmed by the Cincinnati Reds organization, the Cincinnati Enquirer newspaper reported recently that Antioch High 1984 graduate and Antioch Sports Legends 2010 inductee JEFF PICO has been hired as the Cincinnati Reds' new pitching coach.

Pico was a pitcher for Antioch High's North Coast Section winning baseball team, which was just inducted in October into the Antioch Sports Legend Hall of Fame. Pico was drafted by the Chicago Cubs out of high school. Ironically, his Major League Baseball pitching debut on May 31, 1988 was a 4-hit shutout of the Reds, becoming the first time a rookie player pitched a shutout in a debut game since 1934.

Pico played for 13 seasons professionally, and has spent the last 10 years with the Arizona Diamondbacks as a coach for their farm team pitchers.

Congratulations, Jeff!

Photo of the Week!
Nick Rodriguez posted this picture on YOU KNOW YOU ARE FROM ANTIOCH WHEN this week. I didn't recognize the face and he wasn't telling. All I knew was I didn't want to run into this fellow at full speed. Do you recognize this Antioch High School graduate? 10 time pro bowler, he is in the Football Hall of Fame in Canton and he is in the Antioch Sports Legends Museum.  He played for the Baltimore Colts. He wore number 89. Why do I care? It makes me feel good knowing you can come from Antioch and make it to the top.
