Veal Piccata @ Cap's Restaurant, Brentwood $14.95

Veal sauteed in lemon, butter and capers. Served with soup or salad, pasta, vegetables, bread and butter ...$14.95, at lunch. I love to eat out for lunch. Portion sizes are typically smaller and sold for about 40% off the full dinner price. That's perfect for me, as someone who eats very little often (a grazer), plus I don't like wasting money on something I'm not going to eat. Where am I? CAP'S RESTAURANT in Brentwood. The 49th Annual Antique & Bottle Show

What a thrill this was. Worth every penny of the free admission price. It was probably 80% glass dating back to about 1850. This is a glass passionate group many of the venders have been collecting for more than 40 years. Most of them got started visiting old towns and digging around and finding small medicine bottles. Then they got hooked, started buying and trading. Still there was plenty of other collectibles including old radios, coins, currency, stamps, serving trays etc., I will certainly watch for this show next year.

The Antioch Historical Museum, 1500 W. 4th St., Antioch. Open 1PM - 4 PM every Weds & Sat. Admission is free. Are you interested in local history? A Grandpa Kind of Saturday

I picked up my eldest grandson, Tyler, Saturday for a day with grandpa. We went on the sand dunes tour, antique & glass bottle show, grabbed burgers at the New Beer Garden, went to the opening of the photo exhibit at the Lynn House Gallery, went to DD's softball game and went to Skipolini's for pizza with the boys and their families. Most of what we did was free and we stayed in East County, my kind of day. There is much to do if you know where to look (shameless plug for the SPOTLIGHT).

Included are these two links to information about the grant and the video series that accompanies the grant. On the second Saturday of the month their is a tour of this protected wildlife area that starts at 10AM and lasts for about 90 minutes.
