Guess who was in Antioch Tuesday? I wonder why he was here (lol)? Luke "Scoop" Johnson helped with this photo. "Scoop" is a good kid. But, if he ever misbehaves I'm going to rat him out to his mom (famed local photographer Linda Johnson). Luke has assured me that the Panther football team is going to be as good, if not better, next year (as they were this year). I guess I will be going to a lot more games next season. That is fine with me. More

Antioch Lumber, 2nd St., Circa 1950

I have been in East County since 1967. I don't remember ever seeing this building across the street (from ANTIOCH LUMBER). Did you know the building you see now dates back to 1865? They must have used good lumber. Now I know at least one building that was in that big empty lot now across the street.

The Hills Of East Antioch

Michael Orr, Antioch, invited me to promote his Facebook page. He has some nice vintage photos and some personal favorite photos. This is one of my favorites. Looking at a map this looks like it was taken near Wild Horse Rd. or Ridgeline Dr. I just got my cigar delivery. When I get done here I'm going to choose one to smoke and take a look for this hill. Thanks Michael. Maybe we'll get together soon on a photo safari? See This Photo in HD

Happy Birthday Mom

Saturday January 23

My mother, Joan MacCallister, has been gone for 15 years. She would have been 82 this Sunday. We held a little birthday remembrance for her last weekend. My brother Neil came up with some photos I hadn't seen before. I was one month old when this picture was taken and apparently quite a handful. I was the first of five children. We always felt love and encouraged to pursue our dreams. The last few years of her life I was able to spend a lot of quality time with her. I could not have asked for anything more. Miss you mom. Happy Birthday.

Affordable Tire Care, Antioch, I Like Them

Nothing worse than breaking down out of town. I just got back from Nevada. While I was up there the fuel pump in my car went out. I was in a one horse town and the only horse in town was closed for vacation. I had no choice but to be patient (not my style). I got the car fixed when they opened and headed for home. 30 miles down the road the "check engine" light came on. The car was running fine so I decided to drive it home. I made an appointment at Affordable Tire Care. They took my car in on time and cleared the code (so the light went off). They said in cold weather you can get a false reading on engine operating temperatures. They said everything was operating as it should and sent me home with "if the light comes on again we'll change the thermostat." When I asked "how much?" They said "no charge." How could I not be happy with that? BTW we put an engine in Peggy's car (pictured above). In two and a half years we've had to replace an alternator. Color Peggy and I happy at Affordable.
