It's been 31 years since the Super Bowl was played here in the Bay Area. It was Super Bowl 19, Dolphin's vs 49ers, at Stanford Stadium and I was there. I paid face value, $60, for my ticket. When the game was over, and I got back to my car, the battery was dead. I had left my headlights on (traffic control wanted lights on in the daylight). Anyway, I was sitting in my car, thinking about my options, when a 1969 AHS classmate, Joe Nunez, walks right in front of my car! How lucky was that? I got a jump in about two seconds and I was back on the road savoring a 38-16 Niner win. That was a good day.

This is a room that honors Pittsburg's rich sports history at the museum on Railroad Ave. It's open Wednesday's and Saturday's. Most of it is Pittsburg High School, but professional sports and a variety of vintage boxing posters are on display as well. As I get older I appreciate history more and more. I enjoy visiting museums, especially the local ones. They show me how our communities got started. Volunteers open and close these places. If you have a few hours a month and want to help in your community this is a good thing to consider doing and they can use your help.

For years I've been drinking ordinary coffee. Whatever is on sale. I thought it was all about the same. Now I've seen all the Todd Carmichael DANGEROUS GROUNDS episodes. He gets so excited. I always wondered "what's this guy drinking?" I've seen PULP FICTION. Remember this scene? Now I'm on a mission. Can I taste the difference between ordinary and gourmet? I'll spend the extra money for good bourbon, but I won't on wine. Now I'm going to look into coffee. I've received some good suggestions on FACEBOOK. I will be visiting BIG HOUSE BEANS. I'm going to get me some Pete's Major Dickason and some Winco Java Rocket & Black Satin beans. I hope I find something that knocks my socks off. Do you consider yourself a bit of a coffee connoisseur? What do you recommend I try?
