The start of yesterday's Veteran's Day Ceremony, at the Antioch Marina, started with the presentation of the colors. It was a very moving ceremony. Thanks to all that served and to all the people who paid their respects.

The ceremony got started at 9:30 at the Antioch Marina. Politicians, veterans and family members expressed their gratitude to the people who served our country in our armed services. I was especially grateful to see three local high school bands Antioch, Deer Valley and Liberty play beautifully and respectfully on this important day. It's nice to see the kids of today have not forgotten our veterans.

Congratulations Antioch High School. Winning Saturday's "Big Little Game" 44-42 completed a perfect 10-0 season. This team is the 2015 Bay Valley Athletic League Champions. As the #2 seed, behind De La Salle, in the the North Coast Division 1 Playoffs you've earned home field advantage. I look forward to seeing this team march deeper into Antioch Football history Friday, November 20th, at 7PM. Thank you for a great year.

I know one of the things I am doing this weekend. I'm going on the Artist's Open Studio Tour. I can't paint a lick, but I know what I like when I see it. I also enjoy hanging out with the people that make it. It's been my experience that most artists' are reflective, sensitive people who put themselves on the firing line with every showing of their work. Artist's have to learn some people like red and some people like blue. Art is as simple as that. The painting above is titled "North Peak Rhythms", acrylic on canvas by local artist Nancy Roberts. Like the best artists' she has developed her own style. I can spot a Nancy Roberts' painting, across any room.

I bought my first Acer Google Chromebook about a year ago. I was taking a trip and wanted something light, compact and quick to get on the internet. It took awhile to get used to the operating system. No software, no storage, no dvd, everything is in the cloud. The machine soon became my number #1 (who wants to learn and run two operating systems?). It was a little underpowered for full time use. Feeling comfortable with chromebooks and Acer now I powered up (early birthday present Acer CB5-311). Double the RAM, quad core processor, full sized screen and higher resolution. I can have a lot of windows open now, move from window to window, use my favorite apps and listen to music without windows closing unexpectedly and losing work. Setup took about 30 seconds because all my stuff is now on the cloud. So if I spill a beverage in it, leave it in a coffee shop (or bar) my old machine is always current. I loved my macs, windows was cool for about 3 months and then it drove me crazy with updates. BTW this machine really does update itself, no fan whirring, and I get 13 hours of battery life on a single charge. This machine works for me. I think it's worth considering.
